An acid attack , also called acid throwing or vitriol attack or vitriolage , is a violent assault involving with the act of throwing acid or similar corrossive substances onto body of another "  with intention to disfigure , torture , main or kill "

Prepetrators of these attacks throw corrosive substances at their victims , usually in their faces , burning them , damaging skin tissue , often exposing and sometimes  dissolving the bones . Acid attack can sometime lead to permanent blindness . The human body is composed of around 60% of water , this mean an acid attack victim would at first feel a hot sensation on their face or burnig their faces with flames before suffering agnoising pain .

The most common acid used in such attacks are hydrosulphuric acid and nitric acid .
Hydrochloric acid is  sometimes used but it,s less damaging . Aqueous solutions of strongly alkaline materials , such as caustic soda ( sodium hydroxide ) are also used , particularly in areas where strong acids are
controlled substances .
